Простые и забавные упражнения для изучения английского алфавита: ЗДЕСЬ 

Дифтонг – это два звука, слившиеся в один.
Буквосочетание – сочетание из несколько букв, чаще всего из 2, 3 букв.
Например:
Буквосочетание ck.
[k] – как «к» в слове какой.
Cock, sock, block.

Буквосочетания shch.
sh
ch
[ʃ] – как «шь».

[ʧ] – как «ч» в слове черта. В большинстве слов.
[k] – как «к». В словах греческого происхождения, которые обычно в рус.яз. передаются буквой «х» (хаос).
Shop, sheep, shut, push, finish.
Much, such, chess, match, chin, China, cheek.
Chaos ['keɪɔs], chemist, scheme, school.

Открытый слог оканчивается на гласную: my, go или на немую e, перед которой стоит согласная: home, name. Помните, что немая e не читается (на то она и немая), она лишь указывает на открытый тип слога.
